An art event for the support of the homeless of Athens
This October, Athens is in for a SURPRISE – a grand artistic one that finds the art community united to support the homeless. artAZ’s annual benefit exhibition returns with its eighth edition and, once again, the Art Platform unites with hundreds of artists for a great cause: to support KLIMAKA NGO’s Programs for the homeless of Greece.
The exhibition will take place between 13-15 October 2017 at the «EARTH K44» Space in Athens, Greece.
SURPRISE is a campaign that utilizes art to provide help to major social issues. Since 2009 more than 2000 artists from around the world have contributed their works in 8 exhibitions in Greece and Ecuador.
All artworks are small format and they are offered for the same symbolic price (50 €), so that everyone can support the event. What is the “surprise”? The works are signed on the back. The artist’s identity only gets revealed after the artwork is sold, hence the “SURPRISE”. The audience is invited to rely only on personal taste and impulse to acquire their art. SURPRISE teams up with a broad spectrum of artists -from emerging to internationally renowned- working across all artistic disciplines. Their single common characteristic is their desire to make the world a better place.
In the 8th edition of SURPRISE artAZ is working with Klimaka NGO and an array of Greek and International artists to once again help the homeless of Athens. Hundreds of small format artworks are waiting for you in this major event that celebrates contemporary art and its power to bring positive change.
The exhibition begins online at artAZ (www.artaz.gr). New artworks are added on a daily basis through to October 13, when the show moves to the physical space of EARTH K44.
The proceeds from the artworks’ sale will be donated to the Homeless Support Program of KLIMAKA NGO.
You can follow SURPRISE 8 on social media through the #surprise8 hashtag.
