Stamps from the collection of Antonis Hadjiioannou
Another view of the image is presented in Gallery 7’s exhibition.
The son of a stamp dealer, the well-known lawyer and collector of contemporary Greek paintings, Antonis Hadjiioannou, has always lived among these tiny paper images that we pass by as insignificant on every postal envelope.
Antiquities, Byzantine art, boats, folk Greek costumes, heroes and scenes from 1821, details of art by Greek painters and engravers are depicted on postage stamps that were specially placed asymmetrically in a pamphlet and frame activating our eye.
Complete images that, isolated from their utilitarian context, acquire a valuable character and show their viewer the beauty of small scales.
