Nikos Kaskouras – Marco Fratnik
Music , Painting, Sculpture
This project, music, painting and sculpture, was born from a collaboration among the painter Nikos Kaskouras and the composer Marco Fratnik .
While having both common and different cultural background, the two artists tried to focus on forms that inherently curry meaning. The thought provoking images of Nikos Kaskouras depicted an unusual meaning from the byzantine music composed by Marco Fratnik.
It was clear that byzantine art and its approach to modulate perception was a strong candidate. The challenge consisted of extracting the essence of this dynamic relation .
The music spans from a cantor to an opera soprano and to a violoncello without disrupting the flow. Texts are borrowed from Romanos Melodos and Constantin Kavafis.
