“Through the trilogy of exhibitions ‘New Horizon of Painting’, Frissiras museum, presents distinguished artists from its collections, depicts contemporary figurartive trends in painting from all over the world, in an effort to comment on the tangible and intangible notions in the history of painting, its underlying dynamics and its fields of expression in the future. In this, first out of three, part , entitled ‘The Identities of Others’, each artist approaches in their own way, the notion of identity, expressing not only individual, but also collective aspirations. It seems that, without abolishing one’s uniqueness, identity can, through art, function not just as a limitation, but a liberation as well. The exhibition is actualized through the kind donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Participating Artists: Teodora Axente, Norbert Bisky, Stephen Chambers, Viola Glowacka, Bogumil Ksiazek, Li Ji, Frederique Loutz, Marcin Maciejowski, Florian Merkel, Brann Renaud, Ewa Szczekan, Alexander Tinei, Verebics Agnes, Constantinos Vaviloussakis, Yiannis Ziogas, Christos Michaelides, Ismini Teligioridou.” Elli Leventaki refers to the specific art exhibition.

Li Ji[Kunming,Yunnan province,China,1963]exhibits in his work “Untitled”[2002][Oil on canvas][Dimensions:250 x 180cm]a modern figure who holds a pig that obeys to her while it represents also the useful element and the fertility of the figure. The protagonist of the work has in his left shoulder a monkey that symbolizes the imitation and deceit.

Bogumil Ksiazek[Cracow,Poland,1974]in his work “Artist and his model”[2009][Oil on canvas][Dimensions:150 x 140cm]exhibits a faceless artist who washes the leg of his model like Jesus Christ did in the past with his apostles/students,because the teacher of art is being considered as a student simultaneously. All teachers of art,-no matter who they are[ and that’s why the artist is faceless]- always learn different things especially when they are humble.

Frederique Loutz[Sarreguemines,France,1974]exhibits in her work “Untitled”[2008][Oil on wood][Dimensions:150 x 150cm]a figure that leans on a green palette that symbolizes the optimism of art.The white palette that bites the green one symbolizes the competition between different artists. The guitar or the violin in the middle of the work symbolizes the art of music that causes pain to its representative and to the heart of the tree that represents the sensitivity of art.The head of the figure is being united with the white horizon that hides the secrets of the sky.
