The Island
Group Art Show
“If a map of the world does not include Utopia, it is not worth a look, because it leaves out the only country to which humanity always reaches. And when humanity gets there, it gazes further and, seeing a better country, sets sail. ”
Oscar Wilde
The island is the place where we can be ourselves, the place where we find ourselves or even become us.
It is a place often utopian, a place of fantasy but also a place of reality.
The island is both symbolic, allegorical and real.
It is the “here” that in the Universe of modern scientific reality is “everywhere” and the “now” that is identified with the “yesterday” and the “tomorrow”.
The artists chosen to portray the island in their own way, they belong to the space of the show. We observe mainly elements of classical realism, surrealism, pop surrealism and expressionism. These are narrative works with a variety of techniques: oil, pencil, pen, watercolor, acrylic.
